The Estelle R. Ford
Future Nurses Scholarship Fund
Estelle R. Ford Future Nurses Scholarship
The Estelle R. Ford Future Nurses Scholarship exists to encourage excellence in nursing, character, leadership and community service in the Gardner area and surrounding communities. Scholarships are the primary focus on this organization and will be awarded to second (2nd) third (3rd) or fourth (4th) year nursing students who demonstrate excellence in academics, practical nursing, moral character and community service. One such service can be participating in, and assisting, with scholarship fundraisers. Scholarship candidates will also be asked to participate in the annual fundraising activities for the Future Nurses Scholarship as a “Pay It Forward” commitment to future scholarship candidates.
Scholarship candidates are required to complete a Pay It Forward (PIF) Leadership Service Project prior to receiving their scholarship. This service project emphasizes the value of service and leadership within the community, as well as developing compassion for others and other important skills.

I’m glad the scholarship fund is doing well! I just hit my 1 year mark as an RN on March 1st. I’m still at Cheshire Medical Center in Keene on the Progressive Care Unit, which is a step down unit, in between ICU and Med-Surg.
I am loving my job and I love the people that I work with.
I hope to pursue a master’s degree sometime in the next year or two in
Nursing Informatics and Nursing/Healthcare Management.
The scholarship helped me more than you will ever know. I had no idea how I was going to pay to take the NCLEX exam.
I used all of the money from my graduation party to pay for the review course I was required to take through school. The NCLEX cost way more money than I thought. I think it was $200 for the exam and another $50-$100 for my license.
So the scholarship helped me pay for that. It also helped me get back on my feet after school was over.
The period after graduation to finding a job was rough because I had no source of income and had no idea how I was going to afford gas for my car and other things.
The scholarship was just enough to help me through that period of time.
Nice to hear from you! And thank you again for allowing me to be the first recipient of the scholarship. :)
